Logo design for Letchmore Construction

With a font and the corporate colours already decided on by the client, I set about producing several concepts for the updated logo identity.

Main influences for the logo design were taken from the common industry items such as bricks, blocks and sheet materials together with their traditional uses. Ideas stem from hoarding openings, masonry walling, roof trusses – one concept makes suggestion of foundations dug into the ground. All are based on incorporating the company initials to form the icon.

The company operates in both the domestic and industrial markets, managing the whole development process from start to finish. With this in mind, I was reluctant to use any form of tool or icon too specific to a particular trade or service and even anything market specific i.e. a house icon would instantly say ”domestic construction”.

Without all of the obvious imagery to use, the design task was certainly harder than i’d first imagined.
